Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms
By downloading, installing, or using SnapTax ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App.
2. Description of Service
SnapTax is a mobile application that allows users to:
- Scan and store receipt images
- Track expenses and transactions
- Organize transactions with categories
- Export transaction data
- Utilize optical character recognition (OCR) for receipt data extraction
3. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use SnapTax. By using the App, you represent and warrant that you meet this age requirement.
4. Account Registration
4.1 Account Creation
- You may create an account using Sign in with Apple or email/password authentication
- You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials
- You are responsible for all activities that occur under your account
4.2 Account Security
- You must notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account
- We are not liable for any loss or damage arising from unauthorized account access
- You may not share your account credentials with others
5. User Content
5.1 Your Content
- You retain all rights to the content you upload (receipts, transaction data)
- By uploading content, you grant us a license to store, process, and display your content solely to provide the App's services
- You are responsible for ensuring you have the right to upload any content
5.2 Data Accuracy
- You are responsible for the accuracy of your transaction data
- SnapTax is not responsible for errors in OCR-extracted data
- You should verify all automatically extracted data before relying on it
6. Acceptable Use
You agree to use SnapTax only for lawful purposes. You agree NOT to:
- Use the App for any illegal activities
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems
- Interfere with or disrupt the App's functionality
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App
- Use automated systems (bots, scripts) to access the App
- Upload viruses or malicious code
7. Intellectual Property
SnapTax, including its design, features, and functionality, is owned by us and protected by copyright, trademark, and other laws. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the App for personal, non-commercial purposes.
8. Data Export and Portability
- You can export your transaction data in CSV format at any time
- Exported data is provided "as is" without warranty
- We are not responsible for how you use exported data
9. Service Availability
- We strive to keep the App available but cannot guarantee 100% uptime
- The App may be unavailable due to maintenance, updates, or technical issues
- We may update the App at any time to add features, fix bugs, or improve performance
10. Fees and Payments
SnapTax is currently free to use. We reserve the right to introduce fees or subscription plans in the future with advance notice.
11. Account Termination
11.1 Your Right to Terminate
You may delete your account at any time through the App settings. Deleting your account will permanently remove all your data from our systems.
11.2 Our Right to Terminate
We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms, engage in fraudulent or illegal activity, or as required by law.
12. Disclaimer of Warranties
THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND. We do not warrant that the App will be error-free, uninterrupted, or that OCR data will be 100% accurate. YOU USE THE APP AT YOUR OWN RISK.
13. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE ARE NOT LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES. Our total liability shall not exceed $100 or the amount you paid us in the last 12 months, whichever is greater.
14. Third-Party Services
- Supabase: Our App uses Supabase for backend services
- Apple Services: Sign in with Apple is governed by Apple's terms of service
- We are not responsible for third-party services or content
15. Privacy
Your use of the App is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference.
16. Modifications to Terms
We may modify these Terms at any time. We will notify you of material changes. Your continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the modified Terms.
17. Apple App Store Terms
You acknowledge that:
- These Terms are between you and us, not with Apple
- Apple is not responsible for the App or its content
- We, not Apple, are responsible for support and addressing claims
- Apple is a third-party beneficiary of these Terms
18. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Washington, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles.
19. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, that provision will be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions will remain in full force.
20. Entire Agreement
These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and us regarding the App.
