SnapTax ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application.

Information We Collect

Personal Information You Provide

When you use SnapTax, we collect the following information:

• Account Information: Email address (via Sign in with Apple or email/password authentication)
• Transaction Data: Store names, purchase amounts, tax amounts, transaction dates, notes, and categories you create
• Receipt Images: Photos you capture or upload of receipts
• User Preferences: App settings including theme preferences

Automatically Collected Information

• Device Information: We do not collect device identifiers or analytics
• Usage Data: We do not track your app usage beyond what's necessary for core functionality

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Provide and maintain the SnapTax service
• Process and store your receipts and transaction data
• Perform optical character recognition (OCR) on receipt images
• Enable you to organize, categorize, and export your expense data
• Sync your data across your devices
• Respond to your requests and provide customer support
• Improve and optimize our application

Data Processing

OCR Processing

Receipt images are processed using Apple's on-device Vision framework for OCR (Optical Character Recognition). This processing happens locally on your device and the text extraction does not involve third-party services.

Cloud Storage

Your data is stored using Supabase, a secure cloud database service:

• What is stored: Account information, transaction data, receipt images, and categories
• Where it's stored: Supabase servers (PostgreSQL database and object storage)
• How it's secured: All data transmission uses HTTPS encryption. Your data is protected by Supabase's security measures including row-level security (RLS) policies that ensure you can only access your own data.

Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties.

Service Provider: We use Supabase as our backend infrastructure provider. Supabase has access to your data only as necessary to provide their services and is bound by confidentiality obligations.

Legal Requirements: We may disclose your information if required to do so by law or in response to valid requests by public authorities.

Your Data Rights

Access and Export

• You can export all your transaction data in CSV format at any time through the app's Export feature
• Exported data includes all transactions, amounts, categories, and dates

Deletion

• You can delete individual transactions and receipts at any time
• You can delete your entire account and all associated data through Settings > Delete Account
• When you delete your account, we permanently delete all transaction records, receipt images, categories, and account information

Modification

• You can edit or update your transaction data at any time
• You can modify your app preferences including theme settings

Data Retention

• Active Accounts: We retain your data for as long as your account is active
• Deleted Accounts: Upon account deletion, all your data is permanently removed from our systems
• Receipt Images: Deleted receipt images are immediately removed from cloud storage

Children's Privacy

SnapTax is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information:

• All data transmission uses HTTPS encryption
• Authentication via Sign in with Apple or secure password authentication
• Row-level security (RLS) in our database ensuring data isolation between users
• Secure cloud storage with access controls
• Regular security updates and patches

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date.

Third-Party Services

Supabase

Apple Services

We use Apple's Sign in with Apple for authentication and Apple's Vision framework for on-device OCR processing.
